6 Learning Activities for Toddlers: At-Home

1. Puzzles

Geo Shapes Puzzle: A 3-D puzzle to practice cradling and nesting complex shapes

With fun shapes and bright colors, large-piece puzzles are a favorite for children, but they also offer incredible developmental benefits so children can learn new skills while they play.

When your child plays with puzzles, they learn the power of choice and strategy as they begin to recognize and thoughtfully understand how pieces fit together to complete the puzzle.

2. Manipulatives

Manipulatives are a win for all children! They get so engaged- they can spend time using that same manipulative toy.

Children love to discover how things work and this lock box and the buckle barrel will keep your toddler busy – while building hand strength, practicing bilateral coordination, and problem solving.

3. Numbers

Count and Slide Ring Chute: How many rings go in before one slides down?

Help your little one develop early math with this count and slide ring chute from Lovevery.

Let your child investigate and experience things with number based activities and play.

Another great way to help your toddler develop early math is by including them in the kitchen.

Another way you can help your little one develop their skills is by classifying using these farm animals flashcards or using the Lovevery Montessori animal match sorting game.

This activity is for learning about similarities and differences.

5. Tweezers

With this activity, I had Evelyn use the tweezers to pick up the pom-poms and felt stars. Taking it another step by having her sort the felt stars and the pom poms.

This is a great fine motor pincer activity that your child can do to help develop the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb.
