
What is fine motor?
Fine Motor Skills are movements that involves the smaller muscles groups such as the hand, fingers, and wrist.
Why is Fine Motor Important?
Fine Motor skills are important in the child’s growth and independence. This motor skill is developed after birth and progress as the child grows. It is important for this skill to develop to do daily task. Such as feeding themselves and playing with their toys. As the child grows the fine motor skills are important for their writing, buttoning and zippering their own clothes, and to self serve during meals.
Fine Motor Activity:
Pom Poms With Kitchen Whisk Activity
Materials:
- Kitchen Whisk
- Pom Poms or Baby Socks
Simply just fill out the kitchen whisk with pom poms or any object. Model to the child how to do the activity. Hand the whisk to the child and just let him/her explore with it. Let the child work on taking them out. If your little one is having difficulties, try and help by holding the whisk or try helping by pulling the object out by a bit for a better grip.
ALWAYS ALWAYS SUPERVISE AND NEVER LEAVE YOUR BABY ALONE.
You can do this activity once a week and observe your child master the activity. Remember babies learn through practice and repetition.
